Here’s $5.9 billion to help with the U.S. budget
Posted by TopOfTheThread on June 25, 2011
These are numbers from 2008, and old, but you will get the point.
Why are we looking to cut domestic programs to get under the debt ceiling and get closer (he he) to a balanced budget? Why are we so quick to cut domestic programs when we pay out all this foreign aid? Are we the world’s martyrs?
Why not simply cut 10% of the US foreign Aid to each country we support? Don’t touch their military aid. We don’t want to hurt their sovereignty. Cut the economic aid. We Americans are tightening our belts, why shouldn’t they share in the tightening?
We simply don’t have the money!
If we cut 10% of our foreign aid (economic aid only), we save $5.9 billion!

10%?
I am not really a completely stingy bastard… but I do not think that would be enough. Every “here-it-is” hand-out the U.S. gives out should be cut down to somewhere in the 50 to 25% range. A 10% decrease is fine for actual debts we may owe other countries, but if we are just giving money away, that seriously needs to be curbed until the countless issues within this own country are seriously addressed, and I mean by more than a “woe-is-they” commercial spot on MTV. Consider the possibilities that could be accomplished if the charity we provided, we provided right to our own country! I am not and will never be a huge supporter of unregulated welfare programs, but I do completely admit that those programs are short-funded. But it is better to send that money overseas to countries that admit to despising this country, or do nothing to pick itself up? Is that not insane?
