49 States will pay for Nebraska’s Medicaid Costs

Posted by TopOfTheThread on December 29, 2009

So it looks like Health Care Reform is going to be pushed through at all costs… At all costs except for people living in Nebraska.

According to an MSNBC, the state of Nebraska is getting a sweet heart deal in order to get their vote for health care reform.  (Let’s call it what it is… their vote was out-and-out bought.)  It is such a questionable deal that top prosecutors from seven states (Texas, South Carolina, Alabama, Michigan, North Dakota, Colorado,  Washington state) are contesting the constitutionality of this “Nebraska Compromise”.

“The Nebraska compromise, which permanently exempts Nebraska from paying Medicaid costs that Texas and all other 49 states must pay, may violate the United States Constitution — as well as other provisions of federal law,” Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott said. <MSNBC>

… and …

Nebraska wasn’t alone in getting Medicaid breaks. Vermont, Louisiana and Massachusetts also got help with their programs.

I do not know what to say.  Nebraska will pay nothing.  Vermont, Louisiana, and Massachusetts get discounts or assistance.

Am I naive? Is this really how it works?  I live in New York.  I want our Medicaid costs covered 100% by the rest of the states.  Why should we be left out? Afterall, we are New York!!!

Senator GillibrandSenator Schumer? Are you listening?

Please take back NY’s commitment to health care reform until we get our Medicaid costs covered.  Thank you.

Cincinatti’s Brian Kelly embarrasses himself and ‘disses’ the University of Cincinnati players

Posted by TopOfTheThread on December 12, 2009

So Brian Kelly is taking the Notre Dame Football Head Coaching position.

Congratulations Mr. Kelly and ND University.

Why couldn’t it wait until after The Sugar Bowl?

It smells like ND flex’d and Brian Kelly jumped. Notre Dame is one of  the most powerful programs in the country. Of course it is a job that Kelly would want.

By announcing the move when The University of Cincinnati is undefeated and headed to The Sugar Bowl, it’s showing lack of class.  It is disrespecting University of Cincinnati. It is disrespecting University of Cincinnati players.

Shame on you Notre Dame.  Shame on you Brian Kelly. Mostly shame on you Notre Dame. You had the power to had handled this with class and you dropped the ball.

You have set a poor example today’s youth — exactly who you are supposed to be educating.

Go Bearcats!

Tiger Woods – Pitchman – Driving Ratings

Posted by TopOfTheThread on December 10, 2009

On ESPN Radio 1050 AM this afternoon,  Michael Kaye & Co chatted about Tiger Woods.

One of the crew spoke to whether this product will sell, will women’s opinions affect the sales, etc….

We all know endorsements are paid for. We all know celebrities get millions of dollars to pitch products.

Most of the money spent by these companies on celebrity endorsements is a waste. Let me rephrase that;  there are very few products that I will purchase because of a celebrity endorsement.

  • I am not buying a Buick because of Tiger Woods.
  • I am not buying Nike Golf Products because of Tiger Woods.
  • I am not getting an American Express Card because of Tiger Woods.
  • I am not buying Tag Heur watch because of Tiger Woods.
  • I do not drink Gatorade because of Tiger Woods.

I do watch PGA Tournaments when Tiger is participating.  IMHO it tends to be exciting because he often seems to overcome odds and come back.  I used to root for him.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

It was always interesting to watch tournaments and see him throw down his clubs and show poor sportsmanship. It was never addressed by the media because he is such a great athlete and his image was so pristine.

So let’s recap… he is one of the greatest athletes of all time… he often throws his clubs and curses… he cheats on his wife… hmm …

Now I will watch PGA Tournaments and hope he chokes… Hopefully Jack Nicklaus’ record is safe.
