Lots of College Football to go… and it’s getting exciting to see who’ll be the four teams to make it the first college playoffs.

Here are some (a) quick and dirty comments on this week’s play and (b) my predictions for Tuesday’s committee rankings.

Hey, everyone’s allowed an opinion 😉

Health Care – Transparency — The SAT Word of the Day

Posted by TopOfTheThread on January 7, 2010

I’m glad I am not taking the SAT’s in the near future because I would have a problem with the definitions of certain words.

In a video montage posted on Breitbart.tv, Obama is seen promising voters — on eight different occasions — that the health care debate would be transparent.

In a video montage posted on Breitbart.tv, Obama is seen promising voters — on eight different occasions — that the health care debate would be transparent…

According to thefreedictionary.com…
Transparent –
adj. — frank, open, direct, straight, straightforward, candid, forthright, unequivocal, unambiguous, plain-spoken striving to establish a transparent parliamentary democracy frank
Ant — mysterious, vague, unclear, ambiguous, deceptive, disingenuous

Unless there is a new definition of transparent / transparency, there is no transparency taking place during the health care reform process.

Now The House and The Senate are getting together behind closed doors trying to push through health care reform. C-Span has requested to broadcast the meetings. It appears the administration is denying C-Span the opportunity to broadcast the meetings.

Why the lack of transparency? They already seem to have the votes, so what is the problem?

Hopefully whatever is passed will help the country. Seriously, what is the problem letting us see these meetings? It was promised to us during the campaign on many occasions.

You are making it into a bigger issue (than it is) by denying C-Span the opportunity to broadcast the proceedings.

Having a stress-free day …. Practical daily stress management

Posted by TopOfTheThread on May 9, 2008

Having a stress-free day is as simple as doing a few little things…

1. Look around. Appreciate. Smile.– All too often we forget how good we have it. Look at your spouse or partner. Your kids. Your dog. SMILE. The key is to look at them and SMILE. The simple act of smiling helps the body. It works better if you can laugh!Stress free living happy face

2. Make plans with friends. Have something to look forward to. – Work if fine. It is great to accomplish things and earn a living. You must have something non-work related to look forward to. Even if it is a movie with a good friend. Shut off the rest of the world, enjoy, and give yourself time to rejuvenate.

3. Watch a funny, stupid video. You would be surprised how a minute or 2 watching a video can help. Try this video. Find your own and bookmark your own for whenever you need them…

Should I Create a Video Resume?

Posted by TopOfTheThread on November 7, 2007

The subject of video resumes seems to come up more and more often.

Bottom line. When someone watches your video resume… You cannot rebut objections. You cannot read body language. You cannot rebut preconceived notions based solely upon your appearance.

In most cases, do NOT create create a video resume. In general; it’s a bad move. Please take a look at this video.

Some people will immediately have an opinion of this individual based upon his look, accent, or body language. He may be a great candidate for a position and he will not get the interview.

Of course if you are looking for a on-screen media opportunity, sales, or other appearance-related job, use your judgement, be careful, and consider creating one. Be careful.
